Summary:

As I developed motion design skills, I challenged myself to work with different friends and coworkers on adding motion to their logos or other projects. I worked on these projects free of charge, not only to practice my After Effects chops but also to practice motion design that delivered value for a client and that communicated the company's brand and message.

My role:

Motion Designer

On each of these projects, I would talk with the client about what their business does, what message they seek to communicate with customers, and where that message was being shared. After learning about the brand, their service, and the way they engage with clients, I would design a motion project that brings the available assets to life in a way that complements the message of the brand and fits the use case for that asset. I designed logo animations which appeared as bumpers on social posts, a watermark for the lower third of a video walkthrough, and a product feature sequence.

Highlights:

I enjoyed designing motion projects that reflected the brand's core message. When you can communicate a fundamental message with the motion, it feels like the graphic had always wanted to move in that way.
